The employer should, of course, include the new employee in all regularly-scheduled crew-wide monthly safety meetings, as required by OSHA Logging Safety Regulations. Safety training materials for these group safety meetings, including videotapes and companion discussion guides, are available through www.loggingsafety.com. Additionally, the new employee should be encouraged to participate in state and local logging safety training programs conducted by organizations such as industry-sponsored Logger Training Programs, Logger Associations, the Cooperative Extension Service, and others.
